August 2021 program with Dr. George K. Schweitzer
On the night of August 10, 2021, the Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society was honored to sponsor a program presented by Dr. George K. Schweitzer. The subject of the informative program was the utilization of DNA testing as a tool in genealogical research. The 34 people in attendance left with a clearer understanding of the benefits and limitations of DNA testing.
Dr. Schweitzer is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he first began teaching in 1948, 73 years ago. He holds three doctoral degrees, one in Nuclear Chemistry, one in History of Religion, and one in the Philosophy of Science. He currently does research and is a teacher in the Chemistry and Nuclear Engineering Departments at the university. During the past 65 years of family history research, he has authored 17 genealogical research books and several other publications on the subject.
